Karuppu Movie Release Update: Suriya’s High-Octane Drama Delayed; New Premiere Strategy Awaited

The upcoming Suriya starrer Karuppu is all geared up to hit movie theatres around the world on May 14, 2026. Yet, just a few hours prior to the release of the movie, chaos was unleashed amongst the audience owing to rumours that many theatres had discontinued their booking system.

RJ Balaji Confirms Ongoing Delays Amidst Refund Rollout for ‘Karuppu’

With uncertainty increasing, director RJ Balaji turned to social media to speak to his fan base. While not divulging the specific problem, the filmmaker confessed that even now, the team was unable to find a solution to the current problem. Balaji assured fans that the producers were working hard to overcome the challenges and were confident that the movie would eventually see release without any problems.

Balaji also recalled the long journey of making the movie. Writing an emotionally charged note, he stated, “This movie has always had obstacles, and somehow God has always helped us cross through all this, and now we are here after 32 months. Even this time too, I have full faith, full faith in Him.” The note quickly circulated among fan groups, as many fans applauded Balaji’s positive approach amid the current crisis. The situation became even more confusing after producer SR Prabhu confirmed that the movie would not be screened at 9 am for “unavoidable reasons.” This news saddened many viewers who had reserved tickets for this time slot, given that the filmmakers had previously advertised this unique timing on social media platforms.

Screening Uncertainty and Refund Procedures for ‘Karuppu’ Ticket Holders

Refund information was also released by the production team to all affected viewers. As per the reports, online booking refunds were expected to take four to five working days, whereas the refund process for people who had bought their tickets from the counter would be facilitated by the theatre itself. On the other hand, there have been several reports of screenings being scheduled from 11:30 am onwards, which was initially 9 am. Yet again, the filmmakers have not made any official statement regarding these reports.
