If Wishes Could Kill Ending Explained: Netflix’s Korean drama ‘If Wishes Could Kill’ starts like a typical teen mystery but quickly turns into something much darker. The story follows a group of students who discover a strange app called Girigo that grants wishes but with a deadly twist. According to IMDb, this horror series, “If Wishes Could Kill follows five friends in high school who receive a death warning from a mysterious wish-granting app. As they struggle to escape their fates, they uncover chilling truths that connect the app to the sudden death of a classmate.” Directed by Park Youn-seo, ‘If Wishes Could Kill’ stars Jeon So-young, Kang Mi-na, Baek Sun-ho, Hyun Woo-seok, and Lee Hyo-je in the main roles.

By the final episode, the drama shifts from suspense to emotional horror, leaving viewers with plenty of questions. If you’re confused about what really happened in ‘If Wishes Could Kill’ ending, here’s a breakdown for all the fans:

If Wishes Could Kill Ending: What Is The Girigo App And How Does It Work?

At first, Girigo (a mobile application that claims to grant users wishes) looks harmless. You record a wish with your name and birthdate, and the app makes it come true. But after the wish is granted, a 24-hour countdown begins, and the user dies when the timer runs out. The app also works like a chain curse. The only way to delay death is to have someone else make a wish, passing the curse forward.

As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Girigo isn’t just technology. It is tied to dark emotions like jealousy, guilt, desires, and revenge, which keep the curse alive.

What Happens In K-Drama If Wishes Could Kill Ending?

In the final episode of ‘If Wishes Could Kill’, the characters realise that the curse isn’t tied to the phone or the Girigo app. It’s something deeper, connected to unresolved emotions like anger, jealousy, and regret.

Yoo Se-ah (played by Jeon So-young) decides to confront it directly. With the help of a shaman, she enters the spirit world to find the real source behind the curse. There, she discovers that the app is just a medium, the real power comes from a lingering spirit that feeds on people’s darkest wishes.

To break the cycle, Yoo Se-ah destroys the original device linked to the spirit and faces the guilt and pain that kept the curse alive. This act weakens the connection, and the chain of deaths finally stops.

Even though the curse seems broken, the final scenes suggest that the energy behind it still exists. A hint of the app reappearing shows that the curse may not be gone forever just waiting to return in another form.

Who Died And Who Survived In If Wishes Could Kill?

By the end of the finale episode of ‘If Wishes Could Kill’, several key characters, such as Kwon Si-won and Do Hye-ryung, die because of this app. Hyeon-wook is one of the earliest victims, and his death sets the dark tone for the group. A few other students who used the Girigo app also die after their wishes are granted, showing how unavoidable the curse really is.

Lim Na-ri’s (played by Kang Mi-na) fate is the most tragic as she becomes emotionally consumed by jealousy, guilt, and pain. Lim Na-ri becomes one of the series' antagonists and is possessed by the evil spirit Kwon Si-won (creator of Girigo and origin of the curse).
