King Vijayndra, the prosperous but greedy ruler of Bangra, sets out to Kantara with his son, seeking the fabled Garden of Bloom. A mythical fire kills all his soldiers, sparing only Vijayndra and his son. The king is ultimately taken into the forest, leaving his son with a burn mark as a living witness to the legend.
Rajashekhara, Vijayndra’s son, grows up fearing Kantara and its legendary Brahma-rakshas, warning his people never to enter the forbidden land. Yet, his son, Kulashekara, is the opposite—ambitious, greedy, and eager to claim the Garden of Bloom. This sets up the central conflict of Chapter 1, where arrogance and ambition collide with tradition and divine protection.
Kanakavati, the stillborn daughter who miraculously returns to life, is raised by the Kadapa tribe. Their mystical practices, combined with the king’s bloodline, create a potential villainess. The Kadapas, bound by enchantments, harness black magic to control divine power. Berme’s journey intersects with them as he attempts to navigate Kantara’s forests, eventually confronting their dark rituals and freeing the binding of the deity.
