The film, which opened to a thunderous response, has now amassed an impressive ₹476.7 crore at the Indian box office, according to early estimates by Sacnilk. The mythological prequel continues to hold strong despite new releases, cementing its place among 2025’s biggest hits.
The first week of ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ was nothing short of phenomenal. As per Sacnilk’s data, the film earned a whopping ₹337.4 crore across all languages in India. The breakdown includes ₹106.95 crore from Kannada, ₹108.75 crore from Hindi, ₹63.55 crore from Telugu, ₹31.5 crore from Tamil, and ₹26.65 crore from Malayalam.

The film’s opening day collection stood at ₹61.85 crore, with Sunday peaking at ₹63 crore, a clear indication of growing buzz through the weekend.
‘Kantara Chapter 1’ earned ₹22.25 crore on Day 9 (Friday) and saw a big jump over the weekend with ₹39 crore on Saturday and ₹39.75 crore on Sunday. Although collections dipped on weekdays, the film maintained steady business, taking its total to ₹476.7 crore by Day 15.
The regional versions, especially the Kannada and Hindi dubs, continue to perform exceptionally well in metro cities and tier-2 centres alike.

On Day 15 (Second Thursday), ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ added approximately ₹0.25 crore to its overall total, as per Sacnilk. While the drop is natural after two strong weeks, the film’s cumulative figure now stands at a massive ₹476.7 crore in India alone.
Globally, the film has crossed the ₹600 crore mark, placing it among the highest-grossing Indian films of 2025.

With these figures, ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has entered the top 20 highest-grossing Indian films of all time, surpassing titles like ‘Sultan’ and ‘Baahubali: Part 1’. It currently ranks 17th overall and is the second-highest grosser of 2025, just behind ‘Chhaava’ (₹808 crore).
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the film is a prequel to the 2022 hit ‘Kantara’, set nearly a thousand years before its events. The story dives into the mythological origins of the divine conflict that defined the first film, blending folklore, spirituality, and stunning visuals.
