Akshay Kumar's starrer comedy film ‘Housefull 5’ wrapped up its first weekend with a successful theatrical run. As per reports, the fifth installment of the beloved franchise is nearing the Rs 100 crore mark, emerging as the 3rd best opener of 2025 after Chhaava and Sikandar. Moreover, with its opening weekend collection of Rs 87.5 crore, Housefull 5 has now become Kumar’s biggest first-weekend film after the COVID-19 Pandemic, beating Sooryavansi (Rs 77 crore).

According to the Sacnilk report, the Tarun Mansukhani directorial earned a whooping Rs 24 crore on its opening day followed by Rs 31 crore on Saturday and Rs 32.5 crore on Sunday, making a total of Rs 87.5 crore as a weekend collection. Released on June 6, 2025, the film clearly benefitted from the Bakrid holiday and the weekend.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh comments on the movie’s success saying it is “an excellent result by all standards.” He also said that the movie received ‘loud and clear’ audience approval despite poor critic reviews. “Most importantly, the Housefull franchise continues to be critic-proof – no amount of negativity or trolling has impacted its Box Office,” he said.

Besides impressive box office numbers, it's worth noting that Kumar’s Housefull 5 has become the third-largest Bollywood opener of 2025 after Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava (Rs 31 crore) and Salman Khan’s Sikandar (Rs 26 crore). Other top Bollywood grossers of the year so far include Raid 2 (Rs19.25 crore) and Sky Force (Rs12.25 crore).

For the unversed, the comedy film has been released in two versions— ‘Housefull A’ and ‘Housefull B’. The Housefull A shows from India had an overoccupancy of 39.52% on Sunday, with the evening shows registering the highest occupancy at 54.77%. Housefull B’s Hindi shows had an overall occupancy of 24.49%, with the evening show occupancy skyrocketing to Rs 36.40%.

Commenting on box office numbers, Taran said, "National chains, non-national properties, single-screens, urban centres, mass circuits - HF5 has been embraced across the board, and that reflects clearly in its day-wise numbers. The wonderful weekend performance of Housefull 5 once again reinforces a simple truth: *well-made mass entertainers* will always be the top choice of moviegoers."
