Akshay Kumar returns to the comedy genre with a unique twist in Housefull 5, which released on June 6, 2025. Director Tarun Mansukhani has introduced an unprecedented concept in Bollywood cinema by releasing the film in two distinct versions, not based on language or format, but featuring entirely different endings.
The franchise's fifth instalment presents audiences with Housefull 5A and 5B, each offering a different resolution to the murder mystery plot. This innovative approach marks one of the widest releases in Kumar's career and represents a bold experiment in Indian commercial cinema.

Housefull 5A And 5B Ending
Housefull 5 centres around a murder mystery aboard a luxury cruise ship. The story begins when wealthy billionaire Ranjeet announces his intention to leave his vast fortune to his successor, Jolly. However, complications arise when three different men claiming to be Jolly appear on the ship, portrayed by Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan.
The film's 140-minute runtime remains identical for the first two hours in both versions. Only the final 20 minutes differ between Housefull 5A and 5B, creating distinct viewing experiences through different climax reveals and killer identities.
Housefull 5A Ending Explained: Dev as the Primary Culprit
In version A, Dev emerges as the main antagonist. The investigation reveals that Dhagdu possessed CCTV footage of Dev's hit-and-run case, thereby posing a threat to Dev's inheritance chances. To eliminate this threat, Dev attempts to murder Dhagdu.
The timeline of murders unfolds as follows: Dev killed Dr Aman after being caught tampering with blood samples. When Bedi discovered Dev's pen in the doctor's pocket and confronted him, Dev was forced to kill Bedi as well. Captain Sameer witnessed Dev killing Dr Aman but chose blackmail over reporting the crime. This decision proved fatal when Jalbhushan, Dev's criminal partner in a 50-50 arrangement, murdered Sameer.

"Given how Sameer died when Dev was in the ship's brig, Dev was released, which allowed him to try and kill Dhagdu," the investigation reveals. The case concludes when the real Jolly, identified as Jalal, worth £169 billion, refuses the inheritance. The money is then distributed among the remaining characters, excluding the imprisoned Dev and Jalbhushan.

Housefull 5B Ending Explained: Maya's Gambling Addiction Drives Murder
Version B presents Maya as the primary killer, driven by gambling debts and financial desperation. Her addiction created massive debts that could only be solved through accessing Ranjeet's inheritance.

In this version, Maya frames Dev for Dr Aman's murder by planting evidence - placing her pen in the deceased doctor's pocket and hiding pieces of CCTV footage in Dev's shoe. She kills Bedi after he discovers the planted pen, and partners with Jalbhushan in a 50-50 arrangement similar to version A.
The murder sequence follows a similar pattern, with Jalbhushan killing Captain Sameer to protect Maya from his blackmail attempts. Dev's innocence is established when Sameer dies while Dev remains imprisoned. The resolution mirrors version A, with Maya and Jalbhushan facing imprisonment while others receive their inheritance shares.
