Shahid Kapoor’s much-anticipated film ‘Deva’ is gearing up for a grand release this Friday, and the early buzz is already translating into impressive numbers at the box office. According to a report by Sacnilk, the film has generated significant excitement, with advance ticket sales reflecting a strong demand from fans. The advance bookings opened on Wednesday, and the numbers are already exceeding expectations.
On the first day of advance ticket sales, ‘Deva’ sold 23,013 tickets across 6,673 shows nationwide, grossing ₹58.57 lakh. Breaking it down by format, the 2D version of the film contributed ₹57.96 lakh from 23,861 tickets, while the ICE (IMAX) format added ₹61,110 from 114 tickets.
When block seats are excluded, the total advance sales stand at ₹55.43 lakh. However, including block seats, the collections jumped to ₹1.17 crore, showcasing the high level of anticipation for the film. These strong early numbers suggest that ‘Deva’ is on track for a solid opening, with projections estimating an opening day collection of ₹4-5 crore.
The Sacnilk report highlights that several states are driving the advance ticket sales, with Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka emerging as the top contributors. Delhi alone accounted for ₹18.96 lakh, followed by Gujarat with ₹15.17 lakh, Maharashtra with ₹12.98 lakh, Uttar Pradesh with ₹9.59 lakh, and Karnataka with ₹7.17 lakh. These regions are expected to play a crucial role in the film’s opening day performance.
With a reported production budget of ₹85 crore, the strong advance booking numbers position ‘Deva’ for a promising start, especially given Shahid Kapoor’s loyal fan base and the film’s broad appeal.
While ‘Deva’ is off to a strong start, it faces tough competition from ‘Sky Force’, a war drama starring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya. Released on January 24, ‘Sky Force’ has been performing well at the box office and is on track to cross the ₹100 crore mark. However, ‘Deva’s’ gripping storyline, packed with action and suspense, along with Shahid Kapoor’s portrayal of a vigilante police officer, could help it carve out its own space in the market.
