Dacoit Ending Explained: Hari’s Revenge Plan Takes An Unexpected Turn 

The story of ‘Dacoit’ revolves around the fractured love story of Haridas (Adivi Sesh) and Saraswati (Mrunal Thakur). While the two are deeply in love, Hari (Haridas) belongs to the Dalit community and their union is not accepted by people. Saraswati or Juliet, on the other hand, came from an affluent family which belonged to the upper caste. Living in a town where people adhered to the caste system very strictly, their relationship was doomed from the very beginning. 

The Dark Turn In Hari And Sarawati’s Love Story

While the society did not accept their relationship, things took a turn for the worse as Sarawati’s family forced her into an arranged marriage. Next, a lie told by Saraswati becomes the reason for Hari’s arrest and imprisonment. Her lie gets Hair framed for a murder that he did not commit. 

This betrayal by his beloved becomes Hari’s new fixation, and he needs to spend 13 years in jail.

Hari’s New Plan Of Action: From Prison Break To Reunion With Saraswati To Hospital Heist

Next, we see a time jump in the story and are seen at the time of the COVID-19 lockdown. During this time, we see that Hari manages to escape during a poison transfer with the help of an accomplice. 

Finally free from the shackles of prison, Hari has now changed. After spending more than a decade in prison for a crime that he did not commit, his heart is hardened, and he has set two goals. Hari’s new plan now is to get enough funds to escape the country and go to Dubai. The second, most important part of his new plan is to destroy the life of the woman who ruined his life. 

Focusing on his goals, Hari tracks down Sraswati and finds out about her new life, which seems to be in total chaos. She is now a housewife and a mother to a young daughter. Her husband is critically ill in the hospital, and only a heart transplant can save his life. The surgery would require ₹1 crore, which Saraswati does not have. 

Seeing this, Hari finds the perfect opportunity to take his revenge on his old flame. For executing part one of his plan, Hari plans on pulling a hospital heist to get funds for his Dubai getaway. He targets the illicit funds that were being hoarded by a corrupt hospital MD. Hair pulls the heist but doesn’t realise the larger truth that is still hidden from him. An eccentric cop ‘CI Rambabu' (Anurag Kashyap) is on now on their trail.

Why Did Saraswati Lie And Frame Hari For A Murder?

After the heist, we get to see flashback scenes into what was the reason behind Sarasawti’s lie, which had sentenced Hari to 13 years in prison. Her family had planned to murder Hari for his relationship with an upper-caste woman. After finding this truth, Saraswati had to make the hard decision to marry the man her family chose for her, while testifying against Hari and sending him to jail. She thought that jail would be the only place her family wouldn't be able to kill him.

Hari’s Change Of Heart: From Revenge To Sacrifice

Towards the final scenes of ‘Dacoit’, we see a cat-and-mouse chase between the leads and CI Rambabu. In the end, Hari chooses love over vengeance, staying true to the title of the film.
