Inspired by Chef Kunal Kapur, this easy recipe keeps things simple while bringing out the natural flavour of the fruit. To make this Falsa Sharbat at home, you only need a few basic ingredients and a little time.
What Is Falsa Sharbat?
Falsa is a small and dark purple berry that appears in Indian markets during the summer months. It has a unique taste - slightly tangy with a hint of sweetness, which makes it perfect for refreshing drinks.
Falsa Sharbat is essentially a strained juice made from these berries, mixed with sugar and salt. It not only cools you down but is also known to help with digestion and hydration.
How To Make Falsa Sharbat In 15 Minutes
Step 1: Start by washing the falsa berries thoroughly under running water. Since they are delicate, handle them gently.
Step 2: Next, place the berries in a bowl and lightly mash them using your hands or the back of a spoon. This helps release their juice and flavour. You can also add little water while mashing to make the process easier.
Step 3: Once done, strain the mixture through a sieve, pressing the pulp to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the seeds and skin.
Step 4: Now add sugar, black salt, pepper powder, and salt to the strained juice. Stir well until the sugar dissolves completely. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Step 5: Add chilled water to Falsa Sharbat and serve immediately over ice for the best flavour.
So this summer season, make sure to try this Falsa Sharbat to beat the summer heat.
