At Lakmē Fashion Week 2026, India witnessed a beautiful celebration of the artistry, craftsmanship, and evolving spirit of Italian fashion with 'Eccellenza, The Artisans of Italian Style'. Presented by the Italian Trade Agency in collaboration with Confartigianato, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and the Embassy of Italy in India, the event brought together three distinctive Italian labels: Avant Toi, LeoDean and UNBREAKIT.
Each label brought its own interpretation of modern luxury, where traditional techniques met contemporary silhouettes, unexpected textures and a distinct sense of individuality. UNBREAKIT, one of the designer labels, completed the showcase with its distinctive art-led approach to fashion and brought together expressive prints, individualistic silhouettes and Italian craftsmanship.
Founded in Milan by artist Silvano Negri, with Giorgia Both leading the label's seasonal design direction, UNBREAKIT explored the relationship between visual art and clothing, transforming artistic expression into wearable creations.
While speaking exclusively to Her Zindagi, Mila Stephan talks about possible collaboration with Indian designers in the future and emphasises the similarities between the fashion of both countries. "We are definitely open to collaborating with Indian designers. It's so colorful, big, vibrant, and not afraid to take up space. I love when fashion does that, as Italy clearly does," she says.
In contrast to her vibrant and colourful collection, Mila also comments on beige and muted palette fashion dominating the world. Despite the trend, she would love to wear something that will make heads turn. She adds, "I mean that also works. But personally, when I wear something, I like to be noticed. I love when people smile and approach me after seeing my outfits or my collection. People approach me, and I love when fashion becomes a conversation starter."
Meanwhile, speaking about the showcase, Giorgia Both, Principal Designer of UNBREAKIT, said, “At UNBREAKIT, we see fashion as an extension of art and individuality. Through this showcase, we wanted to celebrate creative freedom and the beauty of expressing one's unique identity.”
The show underlined how Italian fashion continues to evolve while staying rooted in its rich legacy of artisanship.
