Credited as India’s first woman who joined the Indian Police Service way back in 1972, Kiran Bedi continues to be an inspiration for women in our country. As a teen, she was a tennis champion who won several titles at state and national level championships. As an adult, she had a career spanning three decades where her focus remained on reducing the number of crimes against women. This Ramon Magasaysay award winner was also the first Indian woman who was made Police Advisor to the UN Secretary-General, in the Peace Keeping Operations Department. She finally retired at the position of Director General at the Bureau of Police Research and Development.

Kiran Bedi's Throwback Moment From NCC Days
Kiran Bedi is quite active on social media and she recently took to Twitter to post a picture with the NCC Cadets of Chennai, Puducherry & Andamans who have returned with top honours. Talking with them at her official residence Raj Nivas in Puducherry, she shared her own journey as an NCC Cadet for four years in college. Kiran Bedi had not only been a part of National Cadet Corps but she also won the NCC Cadet Officer Award in 1968.
What’s endearing is another picture posted by her which shows a young Kiran Bedi posing with a fellow cadet back in her heydays. In the caption she has lamented the fact and wished that India had resources to impart NCC Training to all its students.
