Eligibility Criteria For SIR Application

In order to apply or make modifications under the Special Intensive Revision of 2026, an applicant needs to be a citizen of India. The applicant needs to be 18 years or above on the date of qualification as set out by the Election Commission. In addition, the applicant needs to be a regular resident of the constituency from where he/she is making an application and not debarred from voting according to the electoral laws of India.

How To Apply For SIR 2026

Eligible voters can apply for SIR registration either manually through enumeration forms or electronically through the official website. The BLO will distribute partially filled-in Enumeration Forms (EF) to the voters during the door-to-door survey process, and they have to fill, sign and submit the form along with supporting proofs. In case of self-enumeration, the voter has to go to the official website or ECINet application of ECI (voters.eci.gov.in).

Common Mistakes To Avoid During Registration

When filling the SIR enumeration application form, the applicants need to ensure that their personal information, such as names, wrong dates of birth, and no relative mapping reference, is accurate before sending. Another common error that may occur is sending illegible or unsupported copies of the documents, which will attract notices from the Electoral Registration Officer. Duplicate registration is another common error that may be done by the registered voters while applying for different constituencies.

Applicants will be able to easily monitor the status of their SIR filing on their own using the official website of the voter or the official mobile application of ECINet (www.voters.eci.gov.in). Once you enter your unique reference number generated after the submission of the form or the Voter ID (EPIC) details, you will be able to access real-time information about field verification, ERO approval and their listing in the next draft electoral roll.
