What To Do If You Make A Mistake In SIR Form? Step By Step Guide On How To Fill Details Correctly

Delhi’s SIR (Special Intensive Revision) is in full operation, with the residents having to submit their form by July 29. BLOs (Booth Level Officers) have been appointed by the Election Commission Of India to help the residents and act as a bridge between voters and election machinery. However, many residents found the form quite confusing, even making mistakes while filling in their details. Know all about the SIR Form, what to do if you made any mistake and how you can fill it without making any error.

What is the SIR form?

SIR stands for Special Intensive Revision taken by the Election Commission of India and is empowered for the preparation and revision of Electoral Rolls as per law. This is a door to door verification drive in order to update and streamline Delhi's electoral rolls. SIR has been done eight times from 1951 till 2004, and the last SIR was done more than 21 years back.

What to do if you have made a mistake in the SIR Form?

If you have not submitted the form yet, you can neatly strike a line or use whitener to correct mistakes in the physical form before officially submitting it.

If you realise that you have made a mistake after you have submitted the form, the Election Commission of India will automatically notify you. You will need to provide your Aadhaar Card, birth certificate and some other details to your BLOs.

How to fill the SIR form?

Steo-by-step guide to filling SIR Form correctly. 

1. Check your name and the name of the concerned relative in the previous SIR Electoral Rolls on the website  https://voters.eci.gov.in/ for the details in the Enumeration form. BLOs (Booth Level Officers) can be contacted in case of any doubt.

2. The Enumeration Form has three sections. The left section 'A' will have to be filled by the electors who were in the electoral rolls prepared during Delhi's previous SIR. You can check your details on https://voters.eci.gov.in/ if you were enrolled as a voter in another state.

3. If you are eligible to fill the A section, complete the requested details: Name, EPIC Number, Relative's Name and your relationship to them, District, State, Assembly Constituency, Part Number, Serial Number and Passport-size photograph.

4. However, the right section 'B' of the form is for the residents whose name is not mentioned in the 2002 electoral rolls. If this is your case, then you will have to mention the details of your parents or grandparents, whose name is already mentioned in those records. The right or B section needs to be filled with the details of that relative.

5. The bottom or the C section will have to filled by everyone who has been given this form. You need to mention your date of birth, name, mobile number, Aadhaar number (optional), EPIC number of a parent or spouse.

Who can file for SIR Form?

Anyone with a valid EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) and citizens applying for a Voter ID Card through Form 6 must apply for the SIR Form. This will prevent deletion of your data, fixing errors in names or addresses, and also link your current records to the old data of your family.
