Holi is one of the most vibrant festivals which is celebrated with much joy and enthusiasm. However, amidst the celebrations with colours, our skin and hair health goes on a toll. Sharmila Shetty, National Creative Director, Skin, Lakmé Salon, shared some of the pre and post Holi skincare hacks that will ensure a glowing and healthy skin.
Pre-Holi Skincare Tips
Here are some of the pre-holi skincare tips:
Moisturise Well
Sharmila recommends using a thick moisturiser and body butter to create a protective barrier before you head out to play Holi. This creates a barrier and makes it easier to remove the colours later.
Sunscreen Is Must
According to Sharmila, sunscreen is something you should never forget to wear before heading out to play Holi. You should use a broad-spectrum sunscreen 20 mins prior to going out.
Lip And Nail Protection
Lips and nails are often ignored but are highly impacted by colours. Sharmila recommends applying a thick lip balm to prevent your lips from staining and nail polish to prevent your nails from staining.
Hydration
Hydration is important to keep your skin glowing and healthy. Sharmila advises to drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated while you play Holi under the sun.

Use Mild Cleanser
No matter how hard colours you are exposed to, refrain from using chemical-based cleansers. Sharmila recommends using a mild cleanser to clean your face.
Moisturise Well
It’s important to moisturise your skin post holi celebrations. Sharmula recommends using moisturiser based on your skin type to nourish your skin.
Avoid Makeup
Sharmila advises avoiding using any makeup or harsh exfoliators like retinol or alcohol-based toners for at least 48 hours. This allows a recovery time for your skin.
