It is now an old story if we repeat how actress Bhumi Pednekar had gained weight for her first film and then lost it all with a lot of hard work so I will just take this opportunity to say that she does look good in whatever she wears even now. She has spoken a lot on body shaming and in the end, it always boils down to your attitude and confidence that makes you look good in no matter what drape you are in. Skimming through the 31-year-old's Instagram, I picked up a few saree and lehenga looks of hers which can certainly be very inspiring for all our ethnic wardrobes. Do check out that mix-matched lehenga down below which will open your mind to your lehenga, blouse and dupatta teaming!
Mint Green & Silver Work Saree
She wears a lot of Manish Malhotra and this compilation is a proof of that. No this mint green saree with silver sequins work is not a part of Manish's collection which the entire Bollywood had been flaunting.
This saree is a beautiful combination of green and silver, giving it a very classy but festive look, the pattern may be horizontal but if draped well, even heavy people can carry it off as I know that can be an issue for some of us. Skip all that jewellery if you plan on wearing an equally bling blouse like Bhumi's. It has a low back with a dori above to keep the shoulder straps from dropping and has a very deep low cut like a bralette in front. The makeup can be smokey with hints of green for the eys but if that is your area of focus, let the lips be in a nude shade with a touch of blush on the cheeks.
This one is an interesting take on a black lehenga. Again a Manish Malhotra number, the Aztec inspired patterns on the lehenga give it a very bold finish and the choice of colours used in the pattern execution is not very jarring either. It has a cancan below but you can skip it if you want and have some more pleats added to yours for a puffy look. The blouse is all bling but more like a bralette. Layered with a plain black net dupatta, the lehenga looks all balanced. Keep your jewellery minimal. Either wear heavy earrings or go for an amulet or a kada. Keep the makeup simple. Your hair can be kept open but if you have a thin neck, go for a high bun look. It all depends on what you can carry off.
Contrast Lehenga Look
I am loving this black yellow and silver combination! The brocade lehenga in silver and black, haldi yellow dupatta with silver foiling work and a plain strappy silver blouse is making a statement I did not think of earlier. Bhumi Pednekar has worn a choker in kundan to complete the look and not to miss the square-shaped statement ring. A simple black bindi, light silver and black smokey eye makeup are complimenting her attire which stands out! Keep the hair simple, in a pony or bun so that you don't have to juggle with the dupatta drape all the time. Be comfortable and make heads turn with a combination like this!
Pink Foil Work Lehenga
This is a very heavy lehenga which suits occasions like weddings and festive ceremonies. However, you can mix and match here as well. Like the pink lehenga in foil work can be worn with a plain blouse too and vice versa. The blouse with so much work here can be worn with a plain saree as well. You can wear it with a green saree if you are in for some fun colour blast. It depends on how much are you ready to step out of the box. This number by Ritu Kumar, if worn as it is, then keep the makeup subtle.
Orange Sequins Saree
We all know that Manish Malhotra loves to add bling to his works and this saree is no exception. But what I like here is the way Bhumi has pulled it off. Smokey black eyes, rust lip shade, just a statement ring and a messy pony. This is a complete look that makes the saree look even more gorgeous.
