New Year celebration at Mall Road in Manali is an experience one must not miss on. The whole street is decorated with quirky lights, while nightlong parties and rock music are buzzing at the resorts and pubs. Crowds dressed up for the occasion, gather in numbers and bring in New Year with much zeal. If you are like me, who loves celebrating New Year in the laps of snow-capped mountains or wants to enjoy snowfall, Manali is the perfect destination for you.

Rohtang Pass
Admit it, we all paused Yeh Ishq Haaye song, from the movie Jab we met, to admire the beauty of Manali. And that particular scene is shot in Rohtang Valley only. This beautiful valley falls en route the Manali-Keylong highway and sits at an altitude of 3,978 meters. It is also the go-to place for nature lovers, adventure enthusiasts, backpackers, and trekkers who love adventurous activities like ice-skating, paragliding, skiing and many more.
Mall Road
Still not convinced to visit Manali? Various scenes of Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, which dished out some serious friendship goals, were shot at Mall Road in Manali. The acclaimed heart of Manali has various hotels, restaurants, bookstores, clothing shops, and much more. From woolen clothes to local, handcrafted items, here you can find every item at a reasonable price. Also, here you can try Manali's famous cuisine, 6 in 1 softy (my favourite!), thenthuk and thukpaa.

Solang Valley
Your Manali trip is essentially incomplete without a visit to the iconic Solang Valley. This is one of the most frequently visited tourist places in Manali in December and offers several adventurous activities that are perfect for adventure junkies. These activities include paragliding, zorbing to open jeep rides, hiking, parachuting, and skiing among many others. Solang is the ultimate natural wonderland in Manali for adventure enthusiasts. Rohtang Pass has also been featured in various movies like ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ and ‘Jab We Met’.
Old Manali
Old Manali offers cheap accommodation and a plethora of great eating options and picturesque views of the Himalayas. The walk to Old Manali is a little steep but you will definitely fall in love with stunning views. Also, here you will find less crowd as compared to the main town and other hill stations in India.
A Dip In The Hot Springs
Manikaran Gurudwara in Parvati Valley is known for its hot water springs. Yes, you read it right. Manikaran town is famous for its natural hot water springs and hiking trails.
Winter Carnival
This is another reason why you should visit Manali at the time of New Year. Every year, women across from Kullu Manali come together and perform old pahari folk dance to keep the tradition alive and promote this dance form among the younger generations. This is one of the main attractions of Manali.
