Her father retired as an officer of the CID department, while her mother is Shweta Mali. Prajakta did her schooling at Captain Shivrampant Damle Prashala in Pune. She graduated with a Master of Arts degree in the Performing Arts discipline from Lalit Kala Kendra, affiliated to Pune University. Her unique talent in classical dance also got her awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Culture for pursuing higher education in the Bharatanatyam dance form.

Prajakta Mali Career 

At just 14, Prajakta won the national Hindi dance show ‘Kya Masti Kya Dhoom’ that aired in 2001 on Star Plus TV channel. She also played a very small role of a college girl in ‘Swades’ in 2004, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and then again appeared in another small role in ‘Gandhi, My Father’ in 2007.

Prajakta gained widespread recognition through her portrayal of Meghna Desai in the popular romantic-drama serial ‘Julun Yeti Reshimgathi’ by Zee Marathi from 2013 to 2015. Her chemistry and acting skills won the hearts of millions of people. Over the years, the actress has been known for being the host and anchor of the popular comedy TV show ‘Maharashtrachi Hasyajatra’ by Sony Marathi channel. 'Vah Dada Vah' is her tagline, which has become her line for the weekly entertainment of Maharashtra. Moving from television to mainstream films, the actress took some of the highly regarded and successful parts in several movies, including ‘Hampi’ in 2017, ‘Party’ in 2018, ‘Pawankhind’ in 2022, and ‘Chandramukhi’ in 2022. In recent times, she played the lead role of ‘Phullwanti,’ a grand period drama film of her own making. Additionally, she has starred in many Marathi web series as well, including Ranbazaar and Devkhel.
