Tamil television actress Manya Anand has sparked a major conversation in the industry after alleging that Dhanush’s manager, Shreyas, approached her with casting couch demands for a new film. In a recent interview with Cineulagam, Manya described her experience in detail, shedding light on an issue that continues to plague actors across regional cinema.
According to Manya, the incident began when Shreyas contacted her regarding an upcoming film under Dhanush’s banner. During the conversation, he allegedly hinted at a required ‘commitment,’ a euphemism often used for inappropriate demands.
Manya recalled asking him directly, ‘What commitment? Why should I give any commitment?’ She said she immediately rejected the proposition, making it clear she was unwilling to comply with anything beyond professional expectations.
The actress further alleged that after she refused, Shreyas questioned her, saying, “You won’t listen even if it’s Dhanush sir?”, a remark she found troubling and manipulative.

Manya revealed that Shreyas continued contacting her multiple times even after her clear refusal. She claims he sent her location details of Wunderbar Films, Dhanush’s production house, and forwarded the script of the proposed film.
When asked whether she read the script, she stated, “No, I did not read it. I’m not doing the film. We’re artists, hire us for our work, but don’t expect anything else. If we give in to these demands, people label us unfairly. This pattern needs to be recognised and addressed.”

She also alleged that another manager from the same project approached her with similar intentions, strengthening her belief that the issue wasn’t an isolated instance.
Manya Anand is a familiar face in Tamil television, best known for her role in the popular serial Vanathai Pola. Over the years, she has built a reputation as a grounded and hardworking artiste, making her story resonate strongly with many fans and colleagues.
In her interview, she also mentioned that she chose to speak up so that younger actors entering the industry are aware of the red flags and do not feel compelled to compromise for opportunities.

As of now, neither Shreyas nor actor Dhanush has issued any response to the allegations. Manya’s interview, however, has gone viral, prompting debates on power dynamics and exploitation within the South Indian entertainment industry.
