Born on December 27, 1987 in Nagpur, Girija comes from a family deeply rooted in Marathi cinema. She is the daughter of celebrated actor Girish Oak and is married to filmmaker Suhrud Godbole. Despite her artistic background, Girija pursued a degree in biotechnology and later trained in business management and theatre, before finding her true calling in acting.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Girija admitted that her phone “hasn’t stopped buzzing” since the viral moment. “I am amused! I was in rehearsals for my play and couldn’t take calls,” she said, adding that the sudden attention came as a shock.
