In a recent interview with Brut India, Urvashi Rautela said, “People, who don't have the right information, those are the people who are writing bizarre comments about it (her necklace). But people, who know about the history of that jewellery, it is such an iconic piece, they will absolutely fall in love with the crocodile neckpiece. Actually, it is a very iconic piece... You actually have to read about it, it is very historic. In fact, I wasn't aware of this, but I got to know that it was worn by Monica Bellucci back in 2006 at Cannes. I had absolutely no idea about it.”

About The Crocodile Necklace
The crocodile necklace is a renowned product of fine jewellery created by the French company Cartier. It was commissioned in 1975 and has two crocodiles. According to Forbes in 2018 one crocodile was crafted in ‘18-karat yellow gold and more than 1,000 brilliant-cut fancy intense yellow diamonds’. The diamonds weigh around 60.02 carats. The other one was sculpted in ‘18-karat white gold having 1,060 emeralds of 66.86 carats’.

The Italian actor Monica Bellucci has previously worn crocodile necklaces made by Cartier. She wore the necklace twice to Cannes. She wore a different version of the necklace in Cannes 2019 after wearing the original 1975 piece at Cannes 2006.
The striking necklace was designed to look like two crocodiles intertwined. It is meticulously crafted of gold and is embellished with diamonds and cabochon emeralds. As per a report by Forbes, the necklace was commissioned by a Mexican actress Maria Felix. She purchased the unique necklace in 1975 while carrying her pet baby crocodile in an aquarium into Cartier's Paris boutique. It was created to precisely imitate the crocodile's face and characteristics. The versatile necklace, which is a piece of Cartier's antique jewellery collection, can also be removed and worn as individual brooches.
Bollywood actor Urvashi Rautela is at Cannes Film Festival to attend the photocall launch for her upcoming film, a biopic on the iconic Bollywood actor Parveen Babi.
