Sonam Kapoor recently attended the coronation concert of King Charles III on May 7, 2023, at Windsor Castle. It was a full star-studded concert by the royal family. She gave a speech and introduced various choir performers of the Commonwealth. The concert was a part of King Charles III's coronation celebrations and it saw performances from global music stars like Steve Winwood, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Paloma Faith and Andrea Bocelli.

Sonam's mother Sunita Kapoor shared a video of her fromKing Charles III coronation concert. In the video, Sonam was introduced as one of Hindi cinema's biggest stars. The actor began her speech with the traditional Indian way of greeting, Namaste.

She said, "Our Commonwealth is a union. Together we are one-third of the world’s people, one-third of the world’s ocean, and one-quarter of the world’s land. Each of our countries is unique. Each of our people is special. But we choose to stand this one. Learning from our history, blessed by our diversity, driven by our values and determined to build a more peaceful, sustainable and prosperous future for everyone, where every voice is heard. Without further ado, here’s welcoming the incredible voices from across the Commonwealth."

Sonam Kapoor Introduced The Commonwealth's Choir Performers

During her speech performance, Sonam spoke about the diversity of the Commonwealth and the unity that holds the country together. Sonam's piece served as an introduction to the Commonwealth's virtual choir performances, which featured choirs, solo singers, and duos from all 56 Commonwealth nations. She also introduced Steve Winwood, who later performed Higher Love in a contemporary rendition with a 70-piece orchestra.

Sonam Kapoor was seen in an off-shoulder floor-length gown co-designed by designersAnamika Khannaand Emilia Wickstead. Celebrity fashion stylist Nikhil Mansata shared a post mentioning the outfit details. It was a custom creation with the aim to create a modern design with traditional Indian craft. The outfit had sweeping band detail around the shoulders framing a corseted bodice, and a full skirt lined with architectural godet pleats created by Emilia Wickstead and the calico-inspired print was created by Anamika Khanna.

Sharing a post on her Instagram handle, Sonam wrote, “Historic moments call for fashion moments. She completed her look with statement earrings, minimal makeup and left her tresses open.
