Priyanka Chopra is making her grand Indian cinematic comeback with the highly anticipated S. S. Rajamouli directorial, 'Varanasi'. After a six-year hiatus from Indian cinema, 'The Desi Girl' is set to play the role of Mandakini in the mega-budget action-adventure epic. By reportedly charging ₹30 crore for the film, she has set a new benchmark for actresses in Indian cinema. The upcoming entertainer also features superstars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran in pivotal roles.

Priyanka Chopra Becomes Highest Paid Indian Actress

As widely reported, the actress has quoted a staggering fee of ₹30 crore to essay the role of Mandakini. This reported fee significantly outpaces the averages of other leading Indian actresses.

Deepika Padukone's average fee for a film is reportedly between ₹15 crore and ₹20 crore. She is said to have charged around ₹15 crore for 'Pathaan' and approximately ₹20 crore for 'Kalki 2898 AD'.

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt's average fee for the period 2024-2025 is reported to be in the range of ₹15 crore to ₹25 crore.

More About 'Varanasi'

Priyanka recently gave fans a sneak peek, sharing a clip featuring some behind-the-scenes (BTS) moments from the grand 'Varanasi' title launch event. In the video, she is seen rehearsing Telugu, later acknowledging that it is more challenging to speak the language in front of a live audience than during a movie shoot.

The actress also took to Instagram to share pictures with her co-stars, Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. She captioned the photos, stating that working alongside these two legends of the Telugu and Malayalam industries, and coming together for an S. S. Rajamouli film, is an immense privilege. "On top of that we're promoting our movie with the international media, almost a year ahead of its release. Seeing their reactions and the anticipation building is exciting to say the least. By God's grace, we will live up to your expectations. Jai Shri Ram," she wrote.

The S. S. Rajamouli directorial, which is a globetrotting action-adventure film, is slated for a worldwide release in 2027.

Priyanka Chopra's Upcoming Projects

Apart from 'Varanasi', Priyanka Chopra is also rumoured to be planning a return to Bollywood with 'Krrish 4'. Reports suggest the film may be helmed by Hrithik Roshan in his directorial debut. However, no official announcement has been made, and details remain tightly under wraps.
