Veteran actor Nana Patekar is no more. The powerhouse performer, who redefined intense and realistic acting in Indian cinema, passed away at 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, on October 8, 2026. The industry is currently in shock after hearing about his sudden demise and is mourning his loss.

1. Parinda

Parinda gave fame to Nana Patekar, for which he even won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. The movie follows Kishan, who takes to crime in order to take care of his younger brother Karan. The two brothers get caught on different sides of a gang war when Kishan's psychotic criminal boss murders Karan's friend.

2. Krantiveer

Krantiveer follows Pratap, who gets disowned by his family and ends up in Mumbai, where he gets adopted by Laxminath, a landlord. However, when Laxminath is murdered, Pratap vows to avenge him. For Krantiveer too, Nana Patekar won several awards, including National Film Awards for Best Actor and Filmfare Awards.

3. Prahaar: The Final Attack

For Prahaar, Nana Patekar turned writer and director, and it became a turning point in his career. The story follows Major Chauhan, a highly trained officer in the Indian Army, who diligently serves his country on the battlefield. Soon, he decides to take a stand against corruption in the country.

4. Welcome

This list will be incomplete without adding Welcome, which is considered one of the iconic comic roles in Bollywood. He played Uday Shetty, a gangster turned actor, who wants to get his sister married. Uday Shetty will always remain a memorable part of meme culture too, with netizens quoting his dialogues.

5. Natsamrat

Natsamrat follows Ganpat Belwalkar, who divides his property amongst his two children after retirement. However, their ungratefulness leaves Ganpat and his wife homeless during their old age. It became the highest-grossing Marathi film at the time, until Sairat occupied that place.

With Nana Patekar’s death, Indian cinema has lost a versatile actor who left a lasting legacy that will be remembered by upcoming actors across generations.
