“I Wanted To Spark Debate”: Sameera Reddy On Why Her Comeback, Aakhri Sawal, Isn’t ‘Comfortable’ Cinema

After over a decade away from mainstream cinema, Sameera Reddy is making a striking comeback with 'Aakhri Sawal'. Rather than choosing a safe or nostalgic return, the actor has opted for a film that provokes thought and invites debate. Led by Sanjay Dutt and directed by Abhijeet Mohan Warang, the film explores layered themes, including a glimpse into the history of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. With its teaser launched on Hanuman Jayanti, the project has already sparked curiosity and conversation.
Why Sameera Reddy Chose A Bold Comeback
Sameera Reddy has made it clear that her return to films was never about playing safe. She deliberately chose 'Aakhri Sawal' because it challenges both the audience and the actor herself. By stepping into a narrative that questions widely held perceptions, she signals a shift from comfort-driven roles to ones that carry depth and impact. "I wanted my return to stand for something fearless, something that sparks debate, and this does exactly that," said Sameera Reddy.

A Film That Challenges Beliefs, Not Comforts
Unlike mainstream entertainers, 'Aakhri Sawal' positions itself as an unsettling watch. The story pushes viewers to rethink their assumptions, especially around the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. "I didn’t step back into films to play it safe, and Aakhiri Sawal is far from comfortable. My understanding of RSS was limited and largely shaped by half-knowledge, but after reading the script, I realised how much of it didn’t add up. That realisation stayed with me. This isn’t a film that reassures you; it unsettles you, challenges your beliefs, and pushes you to question what you’ve always accepted. I wanted my return to stand for something fearless, something that sparks debate, and this does exactly that," she said.
