Fake news and tweets are quite common nowadays. Everyone amongst us has at least once fallen prey to such baseless shenanigans. However, this time, it was Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi.
He fell for a spoof tweet that said Prince Harry had mentioned in his memoir Spare that he used to listen to his songs, and how they helped him overcome certain tough times in his life. Of course, this started a meme fest on Twitter.
Twitter Parody
A user wrote about Prince Harry’s lowest moments and falsely quoted him saying, “In the times I felt alone and separated from my family, I always took time to myself to sit back and listen to Daler Mehndi. His lyrics resonated with me and got me through a lot.”
Replying to this tweet, Mehndi wrote, “I am grateful to the blessings of Guru Nanak, my mom and the day I created a unique Pop Folk Ethnic Music Style. Love you, Prince Harry! God bless you, in gratitude that my music helped you.”
While it was a joke tweet, Mehndi gave social media users a chance to start a meme fest. People started commenting trying to decide if they should tell the singer that he has fallen for a spoof.
A Twitter user named Purva tweeted, “Harry (Prince Harry) is lucky to have tunak tunak’ed his way through all the ups and downs.”
