Bath bombs are a fun and easy skincare product to make at home, and they're loved by people of all ages. When you drop them into the water, they fizz and bubble up, creating a colourful and fragrant bath experience. In this article, we'll show you how to make your own bath bombs with soothing ingredients like sunflower, lavender, chamomile, and more.
Ingredients For Bath Bombs
- 100g bicarbonate of soda
- 50g citric acid
- 25g cornflour
- 2 tbsp oil – such as sunflower, coconut or olive oil
- ¼ tsp essential oil, such as orange, lavender or chamomile
- A few drops of liquid food colouring
- Orange peel, lavender or rose petals, to decorate (optional)
- 25g Epsom salt (optional)
- Mixing bowl
- Whisk
- Plastic moulds
Steps To Make Bath Bombs
- Mix together the bicarbonate of soda, citric acid, cornflour, and Epsom salt in a bowl, whisking until they're well combined.
- In a small bowl, mix together the base oil, essential oil, and food coloring until the colour is fully incorporated into the oil.
- Slowly pour the oil mixture into the dry ingredients, a little at a time, whisking well after each addition. Once all the oil is added, quickly whisk in a few drops of water (it will fizz). The mixture should hold its shape when pressed together in your hand, but not be too wet.
- If you're using peel or flower petals for decoration, place them at the bottom of your mold. Then, fill the mold with the mixture, pressing it down firmly and smoothing the top with a teaspoon.
- Let the bath bomb dry in the mold for 2-4 hours, then gently take it out. It's now ready to use - just drop it into your bath and enjoy the fizz!
