Travelling is an opportunity to rejuvenate, explore, and immerse in diverse cultures and environments. As we are approaching the year 2025, many of us will make travel plans in the upcoming holidays. Amidst the excitement of planning a perfect itinerary, skincare is often overlooked. However, changing weather conditions, long flights, and exposure to different environmental conditions drastically impact skin health. Dr Shreya Pagariya Golchha, Dermatologist, Aesthetic physician and Hair transplant Surgeon, Mumbai shared a few skincare essentials that you should carry in your travel bag regardless of the place you are travelling to.
5 Must-Have Skincare Essentials For Travel Kit In 2025
Here are some of the skincare essentials that you carry in your travel bag:
Keep Basics In Place
Dr Shreya Pagariya suggests never leaving your house without basics. The basics are the foundation of your routine. She recommends opting for a gentle, travel-sized cleanser suitable for your skin type. A foam-based cleanser works for oily skin, while a cream-based one is ideal for dry or sensitive skin. Choose a lightweight, hydrating moisturiser with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or ceramides that work day and night.
Sunscreen Is Must
No matter whether you are travelling to mountains or beaches, sunscreen is important. Dr Shreya recommends a broad-spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen. You can consider compatible options that come in stick, spray, or compact forms. Not to forget the lips; keep a hydrating balm with added sun protection. However, at sunny beaches, she recommends using after-sun gel or aloe vera gel to soothe your sun-exposed skin and reduce redness or irritation. For prolonged water activities, opt for a water-resistant sunscreen. If tropical and humid destinations are on your list, pack mattifying sunscreen to prevent excess shine and oil-blotting sheets to keep your skin fresh and prevent breakouts. Further, a hydrating face mist with antioxidants can refresh and protect your skin from salty air.
Moisturiser For Hydration
Dr Shreya highlights that for colder getaways, choose a rich moisturiser to combat flakiness and dryness. A few drops of face oil provide extra nourishment. A lightweight gel moisturiser will hydrate your skin without the heaviness, while an anti-fungal powder can prevent rashes in sweaty environments, said Dr Shreya.

Hydrating Masks
Having a hydrating mask can be your saviour in those long flights and adventurous days. Dr Shreya recommends a hydrating face mask as an essential part of the in-flight skincare kit. She suggests applying a sheet or cream mask during long-haul flights. You can use a mist with rose water or hyaluronic acid to refresh your skin. To prevent puffiness, opt for a caffeine-infused eye cream or cooled tea bags. Additionally, keep your lips moisturised throughout the flight.
Skincare Creams
Unexpected skin issues are not uncommon, especially while you are travelling. Dr Shreya recommends carrying a Salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to tackle sudden breakouts. You can also carry calamine or colloidal oatmeal creams for rashes or irritation. Hydrocolloid patches heal blemishes discreetly. Also, an anti-allergy medicine is essential.
