After a two-year hiatus, Comedy Central has finally announced that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, and the first trailer is everything you'd expect from Trey Parker and Matt Stone: ridiculous, shocking, and somehow still relevant.

South Park Season 27 Trailer
The announcement came with a classic ‘South Park’ fake-out—a trailer that starts like a serious HBO drama before revealing its true, chaotic nature. It opens with moody live-action shots of empty park swings and aeroplane wings, backed by intense music... until Randy Marsh bursts the bubble by asking his daughter Shelley, "Have you been taking drugs? Because I think it could really help you."
Naturally, he then recommends ketamine because this is ‘South Park’, and nothing is off-limits.

The last regular season of ‘South Park’ (Season 26) concluded over two years ago. During this extended hiatus, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone released three standalone specials, ‘South Park: Joining the Panderverse’ (2023), ‘South Park (Not Suitable For Children)’ (2023), ‘South Park: The End of Obesity’ (2024).
These specials have helped maintain the franchise's presence while fans waited for the return of regular episodes.
Debuting in 1997, ‘South Park’ has somehow stayed relevant for 27 seasons by ruthlessly mocking everything: politics, pop culture, and even itself. Whether it’s Randy’s Tegridy Farms weed empire or Cartman’s latest terrible scheme, Parker and Stone always find a way to push boundaries.
