Shrinking Season 4: After fans watched the ‘Shrinking’ season three finale, they thought that the show had ended, but makers have confirmed that this is not the end of the show. Bill Lawrence, the co-creator of this comedy drama, talked about the possibility of doing a new season for this series. While Bill had also envisioned this show as a three-season project, they have decided to renew the show for another season. On January 27, 2026, Apple TV announced the show’s renewal for season four, just hours before season three premiered. Shrinking Season 3 Recap (SPOILER ALERT)

The story of ‘Shrinking’ season three is Jimmy (Jason Segel), and it takes a more emotional turn than the previous seasons. While Jimmy is still grieving the death of his wife, we will get to see another major challenge arise for him with his daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell) heading off to college. After his wife’s passing, Alice, going to college, feels like his family, the one thing his identity is tied to, is now abandoning him. Jimmy also has to navigate through the complicated relationship he shares with his father, Randy (Jeff Daniels).

We also see Paul (Harrison Ford) retiring and moving to Connecticut with his daughter after his Parkinson’s gets worse.

With this comedy drama getting a new season soon, fans are really excited to see what the plot will follow in the next chapter. Bill teased season four of ‘Shrinking’ on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Excited to start a completely new story next year. Feels scary/risky/fun.”

In an exclusive interview with Decider, Bill further talked about how the story will take place in season four, saying, “I mean that if we came back Season 4 and Jimmy turned to Brian and said ‘I’ve been thinking about it, and I’m STILL really sad about my wife dying’ we’d stop watching along with everyone else. Time jumps. New story. Same gang.”
