‘Search: The Naina Murder Case’, streaming on JioHotstar, has quickly become one of the most talked-about thrillers of the season. Anchored by Konkona Sen Sharma’s restrained yet powerful performance, the series grips you from the very first frame. According to Ormax Media, the show ranked second in the week's most-watched series, pulling in a massive 2 million viewers by October 12, 2025.
Season 1 ended with a maddening cliffhanger; the mystery of who killed Naina Marathe remains unsolved. The finale left the audience with just enough breadcrumbs to fuel countless Reddit discussions and fan theories, each trying to piece together the puzzle of deceit, jealousy, and betrayal.

Initially, suspicion fell on Naina’s close circle: Aarav, Ojas, and Lavanya. Ojas was her ex-boyfriend, Aarav was his best friend, and Lavanya shared a deep bond with Naina. But as the investigation progressed, each was ruled out.
Attention then shifted to Vinayak, an employee in Naina’s father’s company, but he too denied involvement. The real intrigue sparked when evidence began to subtly point towards Tushar Surve (played by Shiv Panditt), a charming, influential figure who seems to be hiding more than he lets on. His alibi didn’t hold up, and one particular clue, Naina’s ₹4 lakh handbag, something only someone in Tushar’s financial league could afford, added more weight to the theory.
The finale also dropped another bombshell: there’s a mole inside the Mumbai Police crime cell. When Tushar’s publicist warns ACP Das of the insider leak, the camera ominously pans to ACP Jay, who shoots Vinayak from behind. It’s a chilling moment that suggests betrayal from within.
While many viewers are convinced Jay is the mole, others suspect an even higher authority, possibly the boss overseeing both ACPs. Season 2 might finally untangle this layer of corruption and manipulation.

One user pointed out the scene where Raksha asks Sahil if Tushar ever cheated. His reply — “He’s only loyal to his work” — suggests an affair between Tushar and Naina, pushing Raksha to confess something dark to Sayunkta. Could Raksha have killed Naina in a fit of rage?
Several users believe all evidence circles back to Tushar. His evasive nature, the false alibi, and his proximity to every key location make him the prime suspect. One user even noted that his silence about his personal life is the biggest tell.
Another fan drew parallels with The Killing (2011), the Danish-American crime drama that Search might be loosely based on. In The Killing, the murderer turns out to be the politician’s aide, Raksha’s equivalent. If the show mirrors that arc, Raksha (played by Shraddha Das) could indeed be the killer — driven by jealousy and fear that Naina’s affair with Surve would destroy both her relationship and political ambitions.
