Directed by Faruk Kabir, ‘Salakaar’ is a newly released spy thriller currently streaming on JioHotstar. Featuring Naveen Kasturia and Mouni Roy in lead roles, the series is reportedly inspired by the life of Ajit Doval, one of India’s most respected intelligence officers.
The storyline blends fictional drama with real-world inspirations. Mouni Roy plays RAW agent Maryam, also known as Srishti, who attempts to foil Pakistani Colonel Ashfaqullah’s (played by Surya Sharma) mission to develop a nuclear bomb. Assisting her from the Indian side is the National Security Advisor (portrayed by Purnendu Sharma), who was once a field agent in Pakistan, reportedly working against General Zia’s nuclear plans.
