The 2025 Malayalam crime thriller ‘Rekhachithram’ has been making waves since its theatrical release, and now fans can finally catch it on OTT. Directed by Jofin T Chacko and written by John Manthrikal, with a story by Ramu Sunil, this film is a masterful blend of suspense, mystery, and real-life inspiration. Starring Asif Ali, Anaswara Rajan, and the legendary Mammootty, ‘Rekhachithram’ is a cinematic experience you won’t want to miss.
Set in the haunting town of Malakkappara, ‘Rekhachithram’ follows Vivek (Asif Ali), a police officer investigating what seems like a straightforward suicide case. But as Vivek digs deeper, he uncovers a tangled web of secrets tied to a decades-old missing person’s case. The investigation leads him to the 1985 Malayalam film ‘Kathodu Kathoram’, directed by Bharathan, and the mysterious death of Rajendran, a man who confessed to a long-buried crime before his demise.
The film keeps you on the edge of your seat as Vivek pieces together the puzzle, revealing dark truths and hidden connections. It’s a rollercoaster of suspense, with twists and turns that will leave you guessing until the very end.

While ‘Rekhachithram’ is a work of fiction, it draws heavily from real-life incidents, particularly the infamous Sister Abhaya case. The Abhaya case, initially dismissed as a suicide, was later revealed to be a murder shrouded in cover-ups and conspiracies. Similarly, ‘Rekhachithram’ explores themes of justice, truth, and the struggles of women, especially nuns caught between faith and survival in a world that often silences their voices.
‘Rekhachithram’ will soon be available for streaming on Sony LIV. Reports suggest the film will hit the platform by the end of February or early March 2025.
