‘Perfect Crown’ episode 1 mainly focuses on Seong Hui-ju’s (played by IU) background and what drives her bold personality. Despite being wealthy and capable, she is constantly looked down upon because she is an illegitimate child. Her family tries to control her future by pushing her into a strategic marriage that would keep her out of power. Instead of accepting that, Hui-ju decides to take control in her own way.

At the same time, we see the royal family dynamics. Prince Yi-an (played  by Byeon Woo-seok) is respected by the public but seen as a threat within the palace. The Queen Mother pressures him to marry so he can be pushed aside.

Seeing an opportunity, Seong Hui-ju sets her sights on Prince I-an. In a bold and unexpected moment, she meets him and directly proposes marriage, not out of love, but as a calculated move to gain status and control her future.

Perfect Crown: What Happens After The Proposal And Palace Scandal?

‘Perfect Crown’ episode 2 takes a dramatic turn as things spiral into a public scandal. After Seong Hui-ju and Prince I-an are seen together, rumours spread that they are secretly involved, even leading to wild speculation in the media. Instead of panicking, Hui-ju stays calm and even sees the situation as an advantage. For her, attention means power.

Meanwhile, Prince I-an struggles in his own way. He is already dealing with trauma, pressure from the royal family, and constant scrutiny. The scandal only adds to his burden.
