The much-anticipated online release of the Malayalam romantic comedy ‘Oru Jaathi Jathakam’, starring Vineeth Sreenivasan, has been postponed, leaving fans disappointed. The film, which hit theatres on January 31, 2025, was supposed to start streaming on the ManoramaMAX, on March 14, 2025. However, it didn’t go live as planned, and here’s why.

The streaming platform, ManoramaMAX, explained the reason for the delay on their official Instagram account, ManoramaMAX. They mentioned that the film is undergoing a 'recensoring process' due to a notice issued by the High Court. This means certain remarks in the movie need to be reviewed and possibly adjusted to meet legal and censorship requirements before it can be released online.

In their Instagram post, ManoramaMAX wrote, “The release of Oru Jaathi Jathakam on our platform has been delayed due to a recensoring process following a notice issued by the High Court regarding certain remarks in the film. We appreciate your patience and will update once a new release date is confirmed.”
While a new release date hasn’t been announced, the platform assured fans that the movie will be available soon, adding a 'Coming Soon' tag to the film’s poster.

Oru Jaathi Jathakam Storyline
‘Oru Jaathi Jathakam’ tells the story of a young man from North Malabar whose life takes a turn after a palmistry reading. A female palmist predicts that his future will be filled with struggles, emotional pain, and ridicule. This prophecy makes him hesitant to marry any of the women he meets, fearing he’ll bring them misery. The film explores how this prediction affects his life and relationships.
Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the movie did fairly well at the box office, earning Rs 9.23 crore. The unique storyline and Vineeth Sreenivasan’s performance resonated with many viewers. The film also features Kayadu Lohar, Indu Thampy, Mridul Nair, Nikhila Vimal, and Isha Talwar in key roles. Directed by M Mohanan, it’s a lighthearted yet thought-provoking take on love, self-doubt, and destiny.
