Imagine being in a relationship with a manipulative, psychopath killer, having all the possible red flags in front of your eyes, getting warned against him by almost all of your friends, and still not being able to identify his true nature until he tries to put you to forever sleep. Guinevere Beck from Netflix’s popular ‘You’ is someone you would call a dumb woman blinded by love. Not just her, the psychopathic lovelorn that Joe Goldberg is, has tricked a lot of women over the course of four seasons and murdered all of them in cold blood, justifying them as his tough love. But thanks to the makers, we come across some female characters in the show who are actually smart enough to recognise Joe for who he is. They were able to see through his manipulation and psychopathic nature instead of just being blinded by his charm.
As the fifth and final chapter of You releases tomorrow, let us have a look at some smart women in the show who were able to recognise Joe’s true nature:
It’s okay if you forgot Karen Minty, I did too, given her brief screen time in season 1. Despite that, I would rank her the highest because of her quick thinking and ability to read people efficiently. While Karen didn’t know that Joe was a serial killer, she recognised his manipulative and possessive tendencies, and warned Beck about him.
When Joe thought he was clever enough to hide his true personality from every woman, Love Quinn was two steps ahead of him. She stalked and tricked him into a relationship, without him realising. Although Quinn was herself a psychopath killer who regarded Joe as her soulmate, she was the only female on the show who was able to outsmart Joe.

Beck’s friend from season 1 of You always knew there was something off about Joe. She was aware of his obsessive tendencies and stalker-like behaviour towards Beck, and she tried to warn her about him. While Salinger was prematurely suspicious, she was ultimately right about Joe's true nature.

Even though Nadia is initially tricked by the charming Professor Joe, she later on identifies his true nature and tries to collect all the evidence against him. However, how Joe falsely framed her for murder at the end of season 4 was beyond unfair. In season 5, we expect her to come back for her sweet revenge.
