Ek Farzi Love Story Trailer: Is Going Viral More Important Than Listening to Your Heart?

In the day and age, when going viral and becoming an internet sensation captures so much of our senses, how much time do we truly invest in understanding our feelings? This is the basic premise of Ek Farzi Love Story, an upcoming series on Amazon MX Player. Starring Reem S Shaikh (Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Fanaa: Ishq Mein Marjawan), Anshuman Malhotra (known for Haider, Dillogical, Love Sleep Repeat), and Mohit Hiranandani (Behind the Trees, Patiala Babes), among others, Ek Farzi Love Story hits the OTT platform on January 10.

Ek Farzi Love Story Trailer: Kritika, Manav Fight Internal Battles While Navigating Online Fame

The team attached to Ek Farzi Love Story released a trailer on Thursday. Lasting 2:07 minutes, the promotional clip starts with Kritika describing herself as a "tad bit impulsive and very ambitious" and Manav as "half-CA (Chartered Accountant), fully sorted." Now, she is social-media savvy and an online content creator who aims for likes and going viral, while Manav is averse to social media.

Kritika pitches to him for them to pair up and make content, but Manav doesn't show much interest but eventually budges due to his bond with her. They start a viral trend called "anti-friendship," quickly rising the ladder of social media fame and eventually becoming the internet's favorite "couple." But, that's when Kritika starts suffering from immense self-doubt and begins to question if this is what she really wants from life. She senses something is missing from her existence and drowns herself in introspection.

Meanwhile, Manav, who was already against social media, expresses his anguish as he finds himself split between his deep internal struggle and the chaos engulfing him. As the duo embarks on their journeys, they start realising things about themselves and one another.

Ek Farzi Love Story: What Cast Members Said

When asked about her character Kritika, Reem Sameer Shaikh said, "Kritika’s journey is one of growth and self-realization. She starts as someone full of ambition but has to face the realities of her choices."

On his part, Anshuman Malhotra, who portrays Manav, shared, "Manav is someone who doesn’t believe in the fake world of social media, but gets drawn into it for the sake of his bond with Kritika."

Ek Farzi Love Story has been written by Sumrit Shahi and Durjoy Datta, who have earlier scripted shows like Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera, Sadda Haq – My Life, My Choice, and Million Dollar Girl – From Banaras to Paris. Aarambhh M Singh is at the helm while Dice Media [Little Things and What The Folks (WTF!)] has produced the series.

Ek Farzi Love Story hits Amazon MX Player on January 10.
