The new season dropped today on Netflix, and viewers have already taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share their first impressions. While many praise its ambition and performances, others feel it doesn’t quite match the impact of the first instalment.

Beef Season 2 Twitter Review

Some viewers appreciate the darker, more layered storytelling, while others miss the tight grip of Season 1. Mark Cassidy felt the show lost its way despite solid craft, “Beef season 2 is well made and acted, but I didn't find it half as engrossing as S1, which built to a pretty wild but still plausible finale. This just loses the run of itself.”

On the other hand, Rama’s Screen had a completely different take, “Beef season 2 was even so much better than the previous installment. This new season was twisted, chaotic and ambitious. The characters were more vindictive, devious and manipulative. Outstanding performances; Oscar, Carey, Charles, Cailee, and Youn Yuh-jung brought their A-game #Beef.”

Marc Domènech noted that while the storytelling can feel scattered, it still pulls you in, “The second season of ‘Beef’ has convinced me more than the first. It explores so many themes that it sometimes feels a bit scattered, but it always ends up hooking me. Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, and Cailee Spaeny are outstanding. Charles Melton works. Now on Netflix.”

La segunda temporada de "Beef" me ha convencido más que la primera. Explora tantos temas que a veces resulta algo dispersa pero siempre me acaba atrapando. Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan y Cailee Spaeny están sobresalientes. Charles Melton funciona. Ya en Netflix pic.twitter.com/Wfj7z51hz9

Tony Mosello highlighted the tension and performances, “BEEF season 2 is an endless cycle of leverage and manipulation that is both entertaining and uncomfortably-tense. Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Cailee Spaeny, Charles Melton, and William Fichtner round-out the impressive cast that’s full of charm and charisma; only on @netflix.”

Jeff Sneider compared it unfavourably to ‘The White Lotus’, “Cast is good and first episode is solid but this winds up playing like a JV season of THE WHITE LOTUS. The story zigs when it should’ve zagged, and winds up getting lost in the sauce with a bunch of characters who are either dumb or unlikeable. Bummer…”

Beef Season 2 Story

The new season follows a young Gen Z couple, Ashley and Austin, who work at the Monte Vista Point country club. Their lives take a sharp turn after they witness a disturbing altercation between their millennial boss, Josh, and his wife, Lindsay.

What begins as a moment of curiosity soon spirals into a tangled web of coercion, power play and manipulation, pulling them deeper into a situation they can’t easily escape.
