American Idol 2026 Recap: Top 11 Confirmed After Dramatic Triple Elimination

The wait is finally over, but it came with a heavy price for three aspiring stars. Following last week's voting glitch, American Idol finally confirmed its advancing singers during Monday night’s ‘Judges' Song Contest’. The contestants had waited an extra week to learn their fate, and the programme wasted no time delivering the results. Two hopefuls were eliminated right at the top of the broadcast. By the end of the episode, a third singer was voted off, officially narrowing the competition down to the Top 11.

The contestants opted for Richie’s song recommendations seven times over the course of the evening. That landslide victory did more than just stroke the music legend's ego; it handed him a crucial veto, granting him the sole power to rescue one singer from elimination.
While the studio was packed with 90s royalty, including Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel and Full House favourite Andrea Barber, the contestants themselves seemed a bit lost in time. In a moment that surely made millennial viewers feel their age, several of the young hopefuls admitted they were completely unfamiliar with the tracks they were assigned, including the Britpop anthem ‘Wonderwall.’
