On March 9, the Mumbai Indians squad thrashed Delhi Capitals by eight wickets. They managed to bowl out their opposition team in just 105 runs. It was the Capitals’ first loss in the Women's Premier League 2023. The match took place at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.
When Mumbai Indians started batting, they had a target of 106 which their opening players - Hayley Matthews and Yasthika Bhatia, chased without any hassle. Their steady partnership helped them win the game. Out of five matches, they have now won three.
Indians will be competing with UP Warriorz on Sunday, March 12 and Gujarat Giants on Tuesday, March 14. They have matches fixed on March 18, 20 and 21 too.

The costliest player in the team is its captain Kaur. In the auction, the base price for the players was ₹20L. This came in the wake of women cricketers getting recognised for their efforts and talents.

During the auction, the WPL team added a few young players to make the mix interesting. Under the captaincy of Kaur, the team is touted to be one of the best in the WPL. They are expected to perform par excellence as they have a balance of experienced and young players.

Harmanpreet Kaur is the current captain of the India Women’s National Cricket Team in all formats. In 2018, she became the first Indian woman to score 100 runs in a Women’s Twenty20 International match. She is also the first Indian cricketer to have played 100 international Twenty20 matches. During the WPL auction, she was bought at the price of ₹1.80 crores.
