Monika Tiwari’s entrepreneurial journey began during her master’s thesis with RUTAG when she realised that nearly 40% of agricultural produce is lost due to improper drying and storage. This struck her as a major issue, inspiring her to find a solution for farmers. That’s how Khetar Green Tech was born—with the mission to reduce crop wastage and help farmers increase their profits. Her company provides solar-powered drying and water generation technology, which has the potential to revolutionise the agricultural sector.
Business Motive & Benefits
Khetar Green Tech offers affordable and efficient solutions to farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and food processors, enabling them to extend the shelf life of their produce, fetch better prices, and reduce post-harvest losses from 40% to just 10%. The company integrates solar food dryers and atmospheric water generators, ensuring crop preservation while boosting farmers' income.
Challenges Faced
Starting this business wasn’t easy for Monika. She initially focused on regional research and prototyping, but challenges like limited funds, building farmers’ trust, and scaling production made the journey tough. However, support from NSRCEL and TIDE 2.0 MeitY grants helped her refine the product and expand her business.
Family Support & Personal Life Struggles
At first, Monika’s family was sceptical about her decision to launch a business, especially in agriculture, which they considered financially risky. The biggest challenge was balancing family and business responsibilities. However, as time passed, her family understood her vision and became her biggest pillar of support.
