Who Is Ragini Das? Once Rejected By Google, Now Is Head Of Startups In India

Ragini Das, who was previously the founder of Leap.club, has now been named as the Head of Google for Startups in India. Sharing her career update on social media, she wrote that "Life has come full circle", noting that she didn't qualify for an earlier position with Google 12 years ago.

Who is Ragini Das?

Ragini Das didn't make the cut in Google's final round interviews, so she joined Zomato where she spent six years in roles including sales, international expansion and growth.

"Zomato helped me identify my career moat," she said, adding that it gave her lifelong friends, an incredibly steep learning curve and the resilience to eventually take the leap and co-found Leap.club.

She co-founded Leap.club in 2020, a platform to help women professionals navigate their careers with collaboration and connection. She added that this gave her purpose, an identity, and she can proudly say that she changed lives for thousands of women.

Das shared that Leap.club has become her most defining chapter. "It gave me purpose...through this journey, I had the privilege of connecting with founders who are tackling some of India's most pressing challenges," she said.

Ragini Das' Career Trajectory

After Leap.club stopped operating earlier this year, the Mumbai-based founder took some time off for personal reasons,including spending time with her pet dog Jimmy. As fate would have it, in August 2025, she came across the position at Google that "perfectly aligned" with her career trajectory.

She noted that the role sat at the intersection of 0-10, founders and everything she has built over the years. It felt like destiny for her.

Now, as Head of Google for Startups in India, Das will aid early-stage entrepreneurs grow their businesses by connecting them to resources, mentors and global networks.

They're on a mission to support thriving startups around the world by connecting them to the right people, products and best practices to help them grow.

Ragini Das’ Education

According to her profile, Das completed her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA) with First Class Honours from the prestigious Lancaster University after doing her school education from Chettinad Vidyashram, Chennai.

Prior to Zomato, Das has worked with Trident Group India, and has completed internships with Standard Chartered Bank and Aludecor.
