Delhi witnessed a horrific incident at the beginning of the new year 2023 when a 20-year-old woman named Anjali Singh was killed after she was hit and dragged for several kilometres by a car. Five people have been arrested in the case and have been taken into remand for three days.

The 20-year-old woman was a dedicated sister to five siblings and the sole breadwinner of the family. As she lost her father eight to nine years back and her mother is suffering from kidney illness, she had to take her family’s responsibilities on her shoulder. She dropped out of class 10 to support her family financially.

Her mother told the media that she was the life of every gathering. Anjali loved Punjabi songs, enjoyed making Instagram reels, loved doing make-up and designing clothes. Anjali’s Instagram account, which is currently blocked, was full of videos of her dancing and lip syncing to her favorite songs.
As per Anjali’s mother, Anjali first took up a job at a salon following which she worked as an usher at weddings and other such events. She earned somewhere between ₹500 and ₹1,000 for each attendance.

Often Anjali’s work would hold her up till late. Same was the situation on the night of the shocking accident. In the wee hours on Sunday, January 1, 2023, in outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri, Anjali was dragged for nearly one and a half hours for nearly 12 kilometeres after her scooty was hit by a Baleno car.
Since then, several CCTV footages have surfaced and an eye witness’ claims have been confirmed who said the car took a U-turn with the body of the woman still stuck under it and that the accused drove repeatedly on the road of about 4-5 kilometres.

As per the latest update, Anjali’s autopsy report revealed that she had 40 external injuries, spine and skull fractures. According to the report, some portion of her brain matter was missing and the skull cavity was found open. And ribs exposed from the back of the chest.
