The Los Angeles home of 'Friends' star Matthew Perry, where he tragically passed away from a ketamine overdose, has found a new owner. Anita Verma-Lallian, a real estate developer and film producer, recently acquired the property and intends to honour the positive legacy of the late actor.
For those unversed, Matthew Perry was found dead last year in the hot tub at his Pacific Palisades residence. His autopsy revealed high ketamine levels, indicating he likely lost consciousness and slipped underwater. Who Is Anita Verma- Lallian?
According to an NDTV report, Anita Verma-Lallian is a prominent real estate developer and film producer, and the founder of Camelback Productions, a film company dedicated to enhancing South Asian representation in the film industry. Her career in real estate was inspired by her parents, Kuldip Verma, an engineer, and Binu Verma, a physician, who immigrated from India and established Vermaland, one of the largest land banking firms in Arizona.

Following her family’s entrepreneurial path, Verma-Lallian launched Arizona Land Consulting, through which she has become a respected commercial real estate consultant in Arizona. She also serves as Vermaland's Marketing Director.

Verma-Lallian holds an MBA from the University of Southern California (USC), earned in 2007, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona, completed in 2004, as per her Linkedin account. The real estate contributions to the Verma Charitable Foundation are valued at approximately ₹9.96 crore (about $1.2 million) from the Verma Legacy Trust, a subsidiary of Vermaland.
This foundation aims to support underprivileged students in India by offering scholarships for 100 students and also plans to establish a cultural centre in Phoenix to foster Indian heritage and teachings.
Anita Verma-Lallian has been widely recognised for her work; Modern Luxury honoured her as a ‘Dynamic Woman’ in 2021, and she was awarded ‘Global Real Estate Leader of the Year’ by the Global Chamber of Phoenix in both 2018 and 2019. Additionally, AZ Business Magazine listed her among the ‘Most Influential Women in Commercial Real Estate,’ while Arizona Foothills Magazine featured her as one of the ‘Women Who Move the Valley.’

Anita Verma-Lallian, who recently bought Matthew Perry's former Los Angeles home in Pacific Palisades, offered a sneak peek of the stunning property on her Instagram. According to NDTV, she acquired the home for ₹70.96 crore (around $8.55 million) which had been Perry's residence until his passing in 2023.

In her post, Verma-Lallian shared her immediate connection with the home, especially captivated by its unique features and the breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean, which made it feel like ‘the one.’ She described the excitement of discovering the ‘off-market’ listing through her agent and quickly deciding to make an offer.

In keeping with her Hindu tradition, Anita Verma-Lallian held a puja (blessing) at the property, emphasising that her choice was rooted solely in her appreciation for the home rather than its former owner. She shared, “As a real estate developer, I believe each home holds the energy of its current owner. We wanted to honour the positive aspects of Matthew Perry’s life and the joy he brought to many. Our decision was purely about the love for this home.”
