On October 25, social media was taken by storm as people realised that WhatsApp has been down. The instant communication server has crashed leading people to seek out different options to communicate with family, friends and colleagues.

Since the application is not functioning, both personal and group chats have been compromised. People are neither able to send or receive messages. Outrage detection website DownDetector has confirmed that WhatsApp is not working for users in India

People have been sharing memes on Twitter since they cannot use the instant chatting application.

Jimmy shared a meme and wrote, “WhatsApp users when to learn you can post a picture on Twitter, but it won’t expire after 24 hours.”

Rajat Sharma shared an image of people hanging on balconies. He tweeted, “Everyone who noticed Whatsapp is down has come to Twitter to confirm it.”

A user shared an image of a man stuck inside knotted wires. He captioned it, “A rare picture of Zuckerberg at WhatsApp headquarters.”

Another use morphed Mark Zuckerberg’s image and made it into an electrician working. The tweet read, “Mark Zuckerberg fixing the WhastApp crash.”

A person posted, “I think WhatsApp is down. I’ve now realised how much I rely on WhatsApp.”

Another shared a picture of Robert Downey Junior and captioned it, “Me after finding out that WhatsApp problem for everybody and not just only me.”

One user shared multiple images of Mr Beans waiting. The caption read, “WhatsApp users waiting for their hanging messages to send.”

WhatsApp Is Down In Many Countries

The DownDetector’s website shows a heat map that includes major cities like Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Mumbai and Lucknow where people are unable to communicate using the application. However, it seems like the outage is everywhere. A BBC report confirms that users in UK are also expriencing the same issue.

WhatsApp has not yet shared an official statement. The problem started around 12.07 PM.

Many people initially reported that they could not send messages. However, soon users started complaining about the difficulty of connecting the application. Many reports and social media claims suggest that the application is not functioning in Turkey and Italy also.

According to NDTV, a spokesperson of Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram besides WhatsApp, said, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible.”
