It should be noted that Nithyananda is a fugitive from India. A self-styled Godman, he used to run many ashrams across India that he ultimately deserted to flee the country after charges of sexual assault and abuse were levied against him.
Who Is Vijayapriya Nithyananda?
The woman, dressed in a saree, wearing a turban and jewellery, introduced herself at the UN meeting as the "permanent ambassador of the United States of Kailasa".
She is the one who spoke during the discussion organised by Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) and demanded protection for the "supreme pontiff of Hinduism". What is the UNโs take on this?
The United Nations on Wednesday responded to the queries about Nithyananda's delegation attending public meetings in Geneva on February 24, saying that the inputs provided by the organisation of the 'self-proclaimed' figure would not be taken into consideration.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva said the comments by Vijayapriya Nithyananda were made when the floor was opened to the public.
