Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget on February 1, 2023 for the fiscal year beginning April 1, 2023. Infrastructure emerged as the topmost priority for the Narendra Modi government as the finance minister said that the budget for 2023-2024 will lay the foundation for economic growth through public investment.

In the past nine years, the Indian economy has grown to be the fifth-largest in the world. Seven priorities, including inclusive and green growth, are adopted in the budget. Nirmala Sitharaman, who presented the budget, also noted that the agriculture target has been increased to ₹202 trillion for 2023-2024.
