Dahlias are among the best brightly coloured flowers that you can ever have in your garden. If you are thinking of planting Dahlias in your home garden then here are some tips that you should know to ensure proper growth and full bloom.

Know Your Tuber

Dahlias are plant that grows out of buds that are formed during the fall season. These buds are present at the base of the stem, above the tuber. These tubers act as a food storage vessel for the growth of the plant. If you are purchasing Dahlias from the market then make sure that you pick the one that has a single tuber attached with a bud.

Mind The Time

Timings are very important when it comes to planting a flower. If you are planting the tuber directly into the garden then make sure that the soil is warmed enough up to 60°F. Dahlias do not survive in cold soil.

Check How And Where To Plant

Water Properly

Dahlias require a consistent supply of water. Thus it is advisable to implement drip irrigation techniques to keep the soil moisturised. However, if you are hand-watering the plant then make sure to deep water your plant once or twice a week. Moreover, you can do mulching around the base of the plant to reduce the loss of moisture from the soil.
