On Friday, the New York Film Critics Circle presented SS Rajamouli with the Best Director Award for his film RRR. The group is one of the first critics’ groups to weigh in on the awards season. With Steven Spielberg, Darron Aronofsky, Sarah Polley, and Gina Prince-Blythewood as his competitors, Rajamouli's victory surprised many. With members from newspapers, periodicals, and online publications, the New York Film Critics Circle is the nation's first and oldest critic organisation.

The New York Film Critics Circle has named “ Tár ” as its best picture of the year 2022. Colin Farrell won the best actor and Cate Blanchett won the best actress award at the New York Film Critics Circle. Ke Huy Quan won best supporting actor for his turn in Everything Everywhere All At Once and Keke Palmer got the best-supporting actress for Jordan Peele’s thriller Nope. Top Gun: Maverick picked up an award for Claudio Miranda’s cinematography. Other winners included Charlotte Wells' Aftersun, selected as the best first film, and Dean Fleischer-Camp's Marcel the Shell with Shoes On for best-animated film.

RRR has received a good response in international markets, which inspired Variance Film to launch a significant Oscar campaign for the movie. The movie, which stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in key roles, is competing for nominations in a number of important categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and others.

The cast includes Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Jr. NTR, and more actors in the Telugu film RRR. RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, and it was released in March 2022. The movie made over Rs. 1200 crore in box office collections worldwide.
