Indian batting star Smriti Mandhana capped off a dream 2025 by etching her name deeper into the history books, becoming the fastest player to complete 10000 runs in international women’s cricket. The landmark was achieved during the fourth T20I against Sri Lanka, where Mandhana once again showcased her trademark elegance and authority at the top of the order.
Starting the match just 27 runs short of the milestone, the left-hander made light work of the target, reaching five figures with a fluent knock that underlined her consistency across formats. In doing so, she joined an elite club featuring India’s legend Mithali Raj, New Zealand’s great Suzie Bates, and former England captain Charlotte Edwards.

What makes Mandhana’s feat even more remarkable is the speed at which she got there. The 29-year-old reached 10000 runs in just 281 international appearances, beating Mithali Raj’s long-standing benchmark by ten matches. Her tally currently includes 5322 runs in ODIs, 4022 in T20Is, and 629 runs from seven Test matches, a testament to her adaptability across formats.
She is now firmly within touching distance of topping the all-time run charts, with Mithali Raj’s record no longer looking unassailable given Mandhana’s form and longevity.

Mandhana’s historic moment came during a commanding performance against Sri Lanka, where she scored 80 off 48 balls, striking 11 fours and three sixes. Her 162-run opening stand with Shafali Verma laid the foundation for India’s imposing total, before Richa Ghosh provided the finishing touches with a blistering cameo.
The innings earned Mandhana the Player of the Match award and further cemented her reputation as one of the most reliable big-match performers in the women’s game.

Along the way, Mandhana has broken several other records, including surpassing Harmanpreet Kaur to become India’s leading six-hitter in women’s T20Is. With age on her side and form firmly in her favour, the Sangli-born batter looks poised to climb even higher.
