It’s been 120 years since we are celebrating Mother’s Day, but the concept of Mother as a caregiver and a human who tends to make sacrifices is still ingrained in our society. We often portray mothers to be superhuman, who can handle everything from their profession to home and kids with utmost precision. However, we fail to acknowledge that a mother is also a human who has her dreams. In the light of HerZindagi’s Mother’s Day Campaign, “Maa Beyond Stereotype” we spoke to several mothers who are redefining motherhood. Scroll down to read an exclusive interview with entrepreneur and fashion designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahni who shared her journey on motherhood and her views on Maa beyond stereotypes.

Riddhima On Maa Beyond Stereotypes
While talking about Maa Beyond Stereotypes, Riddhima said, “There are no schools or colleges where mothers are trained, it’s all instinct.” She shared how her mother Neetu Kapoor and her grandmother shared love, care and being the confidant for their children. On a question on how she interpreted the image of motherhood when she stepped into it, Riddhima said, “From the very beginning the concept of an ideal mother was clear to her. Besides giving care and love to her children, a mother instils the value system in her children, she added.”
Riddhima’s Definition Of Mother
While speaking about mothers (mothers day fashion inspiration) who are often asked to fit into a societal mould of motherhood, Riddhima said, “There is no ideal way, a mother is a mother”. Evolution Of Motherhood
From TV serials to movies, mothers are often portrayed as caregivers and someone who sacrifices a lot for their families. This puts pressure on every mom to fit into the mould. Speaking about these stereotypical images Riddhima said, “The image of mother has changed drastically. Today we see more of a confident woman.” She has shared the example of her mother Neetu Kapoor’s portrayal of the character in Jug Jug Jiyo and Rani Mukerjee’s strong mother character in Mrs Chaterjee vs Norway.
